I'm in support of your granddaughter's wanting to include the vampire. To try and teach my kids Jesus loves all and excludes no one, we've had ninja turtles visit our manger.

Earlier in the week I felt a heaviness that wanted me to stop, do nothing, rest. Once u I gave myself the permission to do just that … nothing. I allowed myself to be what I was. The darkness lifted a bit. Funny how I forget that but like you said the Animals know and always go with it.

Love your response to the vampire at the manger scene, Lou. After my son Alex died, Laurie included his "guys" with our nativity set...Shrek, princesses, star war guys, a fairy...they remain there today. She wrote a beautiful piece in Substack, too, about the reformulated manger. Check it out if you haven't seen it. I believe it's called, "Just Silly Stories?" Every one belongs!
